On the 1st of October, Wydział Instrastat, Izby Administracji Skarbowej in Szczecinie informed EORI numbers will only be valid until the end of 2020. The transition period allowing for trade on the current terms applies until the end of December 2020, i.e. until the United Kingdom leaves the European Union.
Changes from 2021
From January 1, 2021, entrepreneurs wishing to continue trade in goods with the United Kingdom will be required to complete new customs formalities. In practice, this means that every entrepreneur planning to trade goods with countries outside the European Union (so-called third countries) will be required to have an EORI number.
What is EORI?
The EORI number is the basis for submitting declarations and declarations as well as for any other formalities before the customs authorities.
No number = no trade
Any entrepreneur wishing to continue trade with Great Britain must apply for an EORI number, if he does not have one. As we read in the release:
‘’From 1 January 2021, UK EORI numbers (starting with GB) will be canceled. Entities with such a number who intend to continue their activities subject to customs formalities must obtain a new EORI number in one from EU member states.’’
All clients who decide to continue trade in goods with Great Britain are encouraged to contact our company’s experts – KR Group supports in obtaining a Polish EORI number, valid throughout the EU.
